SAIC Motor's NEV Monthly Sales Reach Record High

China's largest carmaker SAIC Motor sold a total of 515,000 vehicles in November, a new high for the year and a double-digit increase both year-on-year and month-on-month, maintaining its leading position in the industry, according to the company's production and sales report released on Dec 6.

Sales of its self-owned brands reached 306,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 10.8 percent and accounting for 59 percent of all sales. Sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached a record 151,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 16 percent, while its overseas sales totaled 118,000 units in November, a year-on-year increase of 6 percent and more than any other Chinese automaker.

During the January-November period, SAIC Motor sold 904,000 NEVs, ranking second among Chinese automakers. IM Motors sold 8,158 LS6 units, a month-on-month increase of 125 percent, and is expected to sell over10,000 units in December. The new Rising R7 went on sale just two weeks ago, with orders exceeding 10,000 units. In November, SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle (including overseas bases) sold 32,000 NEVs, maintaining double-digit growth both year-on-year and month-on-month, and orders for the recently launched Roewe D7 and MG Cyberster saw rapid growth. SAIC Volkswagen sold nearly 20,000 NEVs in November, a year-on-year increase of 105.3 percent, while SAIC GM sold 15,000 NEVs, growing by 159.8 percent on a year-on-year basis. The sales of Wuling Bingo reached nearly 35,000 units, and the Wuling Starlight received over 8,000 orders in November.

From January to November, SAIC Motor's overseas sales surpassed 1.06 million units, increasing by 20.8 percent on a year-on-year basis and exceeding last year's total sales, while the sales of its self-owned brands accounted for over 90 percent of the total. The MG4 EV has entered more than 80 countries on six continents, with its overseas sales exceeding 10,000 units every month. In November, it won the prestigious Australian automotive award Carsales Car of the Year, becoming the first Chinese NEV model to sweep the Car of the Year awards in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Australia. In Europe, sales of MG exceeded 220,000 units from January to November, doubling on a year-on-year basis.
